It might seem, children, that being just a little stone by the road is rather boring. After all – you don’t have legs, so you cannot move around. That means you must spend your whole life in the very same spot. Well… it might look that way, but it really isn’t.
Being a stone is actually a lot of fun! A little stone always has plenty to do. For example, stones love to watch the sky and chat with each other about what the weather will be.
“So, will it rain today or not?” the stones ask each other, guessing whether they’ll get wet. And they don’t mind getting wet at all – in fact, they enjoy it! It’s like having a shower, because when mud or dirt splashes on them, they have no hands to wash themselves clean.
That’s why stones love the rain. They enjoy waiting for it, watching the sky, and looking forward to when the first drops fall.
But there are many other joys in the life of a little stone. We don’t have enough space to tell them all, so let’s talk about the greatest adventure a stone by the road can have.
You see, stones love to watch the people who walk down the road. When a family with children passes by, the stones observe what they are wearing, how they behave, and they always have something to gossip about. But what excites them most is when children come near!
That’s because with children, stones have the best chance to experience their greatest adventure of all.
It happens when a child notices a stone, likes it, and bends down to look at it. The stone wishes so much to be picked up and carried away!
As we said, stones have no legs and cannot move. So when a boy or girl takes one in their hand and carries it somewhere new – that is the biggest adventure in a stone’s life.
The stone trembles with excitement, wondering where it might end up. It means a huge change! The stone’s greatest dream is to be liked so much that the child takes it home, washes it under the tap, polishes it, and places it on a shelf above the desk or beside the bed.
There, the stone feels happy and cozy, enjoying life like never before.
✨ What do the stones want to whisper to us? ✨
So next time you go for a walk, pay attention to the little stones by the road. If one catches your eye, you can bring it home and give it a wonderful new home. The stone will be very happy – and if it’s really beautiful, it will sparkle on your shelf and fill your room with a warm, magical feeling that makes life brighter.
